Lead frontline security operations across Wellington as a Senior Security Supervisor with Armourguard Security.

For more than 80 years Armourguard Security has been protecting New Zealand communities and is one of the country’s most experienced and trusted security providers. With more than 1,000 staff across 14 branches nationwide, our teams protect commercial sites, infrastructure, and public spaces across Aotearoa.

Armourguard Security is seeking an experienced Senior Security Supervisor to support frontline security operations across the Wellington region.

This is a working leadership role, suited to an experienced security professional who can lead teams, respond to incidents, and maintain high operational standards while supporting the development of other officers.

About the Role

As Senior Security Supervisor, you will play a key role in the day-to-day leadership of security operations across the Wellington region.

Working closely with the Operations Controller, you will support frontline officers, respond to incidents, and ensure operational standards are consistently maintained across patrol and guarding teams.

You will act as the escalation point for operational issues and help ensure our teams deliver reliable, professional security services to clients across the region.

Key responsibilities include:

·       Leading and supporting Security Officers on shift

·       Responding to incidents and operational issues across client sites

·       Ensuring procedures, reporting, and compliance standards are maintained

·       Coaching and mentoring officers to improve performance and professionalism

·       Maintaining strong working relationships with clients and stakeholders

·       Completing accurate operational reports and documentation

·       Leading by example in professionalism, reliability, and service delivery

This role requires someone who is confident making decisions, comfortable supporting staff in challenging situations, and committed to maintaining high operational standards.

The Role

·       36–48 hours per week across a combination of day and night shifts

·       Operational supervision across multiple Wellington sites

·       Field-based leadership supporting patrol and guarding teams

·       Confidence working around aggressive dogs may be required as part of patrol and site duties

·       Patrol vehicle operation required (manual driving capability preferred)

Who This Role Suits

This role suits experienced security professionals who enjoy leading from the front and supporting their teams in operational environments.

The successful candidate will be someone who takes pride in developing others, solving problems in real time, and ensuring clients receive consistent, professional service.

For the right person, this role also provides valuable operational experience and exposure working alongside our Operations Controller, making it an excellent pathway toward future leadership roles within the business.

What We’re Looking For

·       Previous supervisory experience within the security industry or similar operational environments

·       Current Certificate of Approval (COA) or ability to obtain one

·       Full NZ driver’s licence (manual preferred)

·       Strong leadership, communication, and conflict management skills

·       Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure

·       Excellent report writing and attention to detail

·       Applicants must already be based in the Wellington region

Pre-employment checks include Ministry of Justice, credit, and licence verification.

Why Join Armourguard

·       Work with New Zealand’s most established security provider
