II. Technical Expertise (Glass Specific): • Ensure the proper maintenance and optimal functioning of tempering furnaces, including managing refractory and heating elements, and coordinating routine furnace rebuilds. • Maintain and troubleshoot specialized mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems common in glass handling and processing. • Expertise in PLC programming and troubleshooting for automated glass processing lines. • Oversee the upkeep of utility systems critical to glass processing (e.g., air compressors, water treatment systems, vacuum pumps, and etc.). III. Leadership & People Management: • Lead, mentor, and train a team of Maintenance Supervisors, Mechanics, and Electricians to enhance their technical skills, safety awareness, and continuous improvement capabilities. • Establish clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the maintenance department (e.g., Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), PM compliance). • Conduct performance reviews and manage staffing, scheduling, and disciplinary actions for the maintenance team. IV. Safety, Quality, and Compliance • Champion a strong safety culture within the department, ensuring all maintenance activities comply with local, state, and federal OH&S (Occupational Health & Safety) regulations. • Ensure all equipment, repairs, and installations meet required quality standards to support high-quality glass product output. • Coordinate and oversee external contractors and service providers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality of work. V. Budget and Inventory Control • Develop and manage the annual maintenance department budget, controlling costs and managing expenditures effectively. • Manage the spare parts inventory, especially for long-lead time and imported components critical to glass machinery, to ensure adequate stock levels without excessive cost. • Assist in evaluating, procuring, and installing new glass processing equipment, providing technical input on design and maintenance requirements. VI. Continuous Improvement • Partnering with the Maintenance Head and Production Leadership on Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, such as Lean and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), to enhance equipment reliability (MTBF) and reduce repair time (MTTR). • Assess new technology and equipment, providing technical input on capital projects, installations, and plant upgrades. Required Qualifications and Skills • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field. • Minimum of 8 -10 years of progressive experience in industrial maintenance management. • Proven experience in a glass processing, ceramics, or similar high-heat/automated heavy manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and motor control circuits. • Proficiency with CMMS software. • Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills. • Demonstrated ability to use analytical and problem-solving tools (RCA, FMEA) to resolve complex technical and operational issues. • Thorough understanding of relevant safety and environmental regulations.
