DFMEA Facilitator

Background :

• Minimum requirement is a Bachelor of Engineering with at least 3-8 years experience.
• Automotive Engineering, Mechanical background

SOFTWARE SKILLS NEEDS:

• Omnex FMEA software (preferred)
• Plato en1s, Apis IQ DFMEA software
• DFMEA Excel worksheet tools

SKILL AND EXPERIENCE NEEDS:

• Must have prior experience & worked with powertrain components ( non-electrical)
• Knowledge on AIAG VDA FMEA Handbook Process and SAEJ1739 FMEA Process
• Experienced in comprehending APQP & PPAP processes
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Understanding of OE Customer CSRs

POSITION SUMMARY

The position of DFMEA Facilitator is responsible for supporting the initiation, management and successful completion of system and subsystem DFMEA documents; and coordinate with engineering functions to support the development of generic exhaust component DFMEA documents for converters, mufflers, and valves. The role includes supporting the identification of program risk through the development, application, and presentation of risk metrics at key program milestone meetings, track maturity level of all project DFMEA’s, and ensure DFMEA Teams follow DFMEA standards. The DFMEA Facilitator will also work in developing and incorporating lessons learned into generic DFMEA templates for common products, and support implementation of industry leading DFMEA methods .

The DFMEA Facilitator will collaborate to capture and institutionalize lessons learned, update generic DFMEA templates, and standardize best practices across global engineering locations. The role also supports the deployment of industry-leading DFMEA practices, continuous improvement initiatives, and the integration of AIAG-VDA FMEA standards into product development and risk management processes. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design FMEA Facilitator: Lead the implementation of the Tenneco FMEA process to the regional organization.
• Evaluation and tracking of regional FMEA related skills and preparing and managing FMEA engineering competency matrix.
• Arrange, manage and conduct FMEA training, ensure training material remains current and representative to standards.
• Ensure project teams follow standard DFMEA procedures and apply the templates and tools effectively.
• Ensure DFMEA content quality, consistency of nomenclature, and normalization of scoring across all projects.
• Develop and maintain a DFMEA database to manage document maturity and versioning.
• Develop and maintain (KPI) metrics on status, completeness, and quality of project DFMEA documents.
• Track and deploy lessons learned from projects and feedback into the generic DFMEA content.
• Accountable for ensuring DFMEA’s for all projects are completed to FMEA standards and quality. Includes the tracking of risk metrics and managing a DFMEA action tracker for each project team.
• Ensure project DFMEA document meets the required maturity level in accordance with each program gate.
• Work extensively as a mentor to provide guidance and training to engineering teams.
• Support failure analysis and problem-solving activities to ensure DFMEA documents reflect risk identifiers.
• Help project teams to ensure standardization of scoring, risk ranking, application of classification identification, and ensure quality and consistency of defined controls and actions.
• Reviews Design Change Notices and ensures FMEA document change process is followed to assess design change risk as needed with the Design Release Engineer. Creation of DFMEA report for respective project Design and Manufacturing Sign-Off meetings
• Lead system/subsystem/component generic DFMEA initiatives in conjunction with Global Systems Engineering team
• Advocate for the regional team during the implementation of new AIAG/VDA DFMEA standards.
• Manage and maintain FMEA software tools and templates and develop strategies for conversion into customer specified FMEA formats.
• Conduct continuous improvement activities such as template management, new methods of development, and integration of industry standard FMEA process enhancements.
• Interface with customers as the lead FMEA expert to ensure alignment.
