Human Resources Manager

Urban Accessories is seeking an experienced, hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead HR operations, employee experience, compliance, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs.

This is a department-of-one position. The individual in this role owns both HR and EHS compliance and manages day-to-day operations for each.

This is an on-site position with the opportunity to work remotely up to one day per week.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager manages the Human Resources function, including talent acquisition and retention, employee relations, compensation, benefits, training and development, performance management, compliance, budgeting, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) compliance and programs.

Accountability

Provide hands-on management of all Human Resources and EHS functions with the goal of supporting organizational performance, maintaining positive employee relations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering clear and effective communication throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

• Execute recruitment strategies and manage onboarding.
• Manage the full recruitment lifecycle.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters.
• Partner with managers on performance, discipline, disputes, and terminations.
• Administer and analyze compensation and benefits programs.
• Manage confidential employee records.
• Maintain and improve HCM/HRIS utilization.
• Administer leave programs and compliance.
• Manage unemployment and workers compensation claims.
• Support training and development initiatives.
• Partner with the CFO to develop and manage the HR budget.

Environmental Health & Safety Responsibilities

• Own compliance with OSHA, WISHA, EPA, CAA, and Washington Department of Ecology regulations.
• Manage safety programs including LOTO, PPE, forklift safety, confined space entry, and JHA.
• Lead incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Conduct facility safety inspections and risk mitigation.
• Deliver EHS training and maintain documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Occupational Safety, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of 2 years in an HR management or lead role.
• Working knowledge of Washington employment laws, OSHA/WISHA requirements, and EHS programs.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• PHR, SHRM-CP, or higher certification preferred.
• OSHA 30 certification or higher preferred.

Physical Requirements

Frequent sitting, typing, standing, walking, and communication. Ability to move throughout office and manufacturing areas and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

Combination of office and manufacturing environments with exposure to equipment movement, noise, temperature variations, and industrial manufacturing processes.
