What they need
A Snapshot of Your Day
We are looking for a hands-on Product Quality Excellence professional with technical expertise of Switchgear to join the TQM Americas team within Grid Technologies and help deploy Total Quality Management methodology across switchgear manufacturing factories in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil. The role requires deep expertise in Switchgear (AIS, GIS) product design, manufacturing processes, assembly, insulation systems, circuit breakers, testing, failure modes, and applicable quality requirements, combined with a robust and visible factory shopfloor presence. Working closely with factory quality, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and other teams, the Product Quality Excellence professional uses this technical authority to strengthen process discipline and preventive capability across assembly, electrical wiring, insulation systems, testing, and final release. Through systematic problem solving, effective controls, data analysis, coaching, and cross-site standardization, the position delivers sustained improvements in First Pass Yield (FPY), Non-Conformance Cost (NCC), and overall customer quality.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Apply technical knowledge of Switchgear products and manufacturing processes to identify and mitigate quality risks across primary electrical systems, circuit breakers, bus systems, insulation and gas systems, mechanical assemblies, control wiring, interlocks, functional testing, and final inspection.
- Deploy TQM methodology consistently across Americas switchgear factories and maintain a visible, hands-on shopfloor presence to verify process adherence, identify emerging risks, and accelerate issue resolution.
- Embed Design and Process FMEA, control plans, 8D, and structured root-cause analysis as standard practices for preventing and resolving product and process failures.
- Serve as a technical authority for Switchgear (AIS, GIS) quality topics, partnering with product and manufacturing engineering to translate drawings, specifications, critical-to-quality characteristics, and applicable requirements into robust manufacturing, inspection, and test controls.
- Lead cross-functional troubleshooting, containment, and corrective-action activities for complex product and process failures; use deep technical judgment and production, test, nonconformance, rework, warranty, and field-service data to identify root causes and prioritize systemic improvements.
- Develop quarterly preventive improvement plans and digital quality dashboards, coach factory teams, and promote standardization, lessons learned, and best-practice sharing across the switchgear factory network.
What You Bring
- Experience in the engineering or manufacturing of Switchgear (AIS or GIS), including associated live-tank or dead-tank circuit breakers, with demonstrated technical expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering, quality management, or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn and further develop hands-on technical knowledge of medium- and high-voltage Switchgear equipment, including circuit breakers, instrument transformers, bus systems, control wiring and protection interfaces, insulation and gas systems, mechanical assemblies, interlocks, production testing, and common product and process failure modes.
- Demonstrated ability to independently interpret and challenge Switchgear engineering drawings, bills of material, product specifications, manufacturing instructions, test procedures, and applicable electrical-equipment standards, and to convert technical requirements into effective shopfloor controls.
- Strong working knowledge of critical-to-quality characteristics, inspection and test controls, traceability, workmanship standards, nonconformance management, and applicable customer, regulatory, and industry requirements.
- Demonstrated command of TQM, Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA, 8D, statistical methods, and process-capability tools, with a proven record of cross-functional problem solving, organizational change, and coaching; relevant certification is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills; confidence with manufacturing, quality, and test data and digital dashboards; professional proficiency in English, on-site factory support, and 50%-70% travel are required.
About the Team
The TQM Americas team supports switchgear manufacturing operations across the United States, Mexico, and Brazil.
This regional team works closely with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations functions to strengthen preventive quality systems, improve operational excellence, standardize best practices, and drive a culture of continuous improvement across the Americas factory network.
The position offers significant exposure to regional manufacturing leadership and opportunities to influence quality performance, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence across multiple sites.
