Trumpf CO2 Laser Operator

Really Good Equipment is seeking an experienced Trumpf CO₂ Laser Operator to join our growing fabrication team.

This position is responsible for the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and daily maintenance of a Trumpf TruLaser 3040 CO₂ laser cutting system.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience safely operating Trumpf laser equipment, maintaining production quality, and working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This role is critical to maintaining production schedules, ensuring part quality, and maximizing machine uptime.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a Trumpf TruLaser 3040 CO₂ laser cutting system.
• Load and unload raw materials and finished parts safely and efficiently.
• Verify material type, thickness, and orientation before processing.
• Monitor cutting performance and adjust process parameters as needed.
• Perform nozzle changes, lens inspections, beam centering verification, and focus checks.
• Troubleshoot cutting quality issues including dross, burring, poor edge quality, piercing problems, and dimensional inaccuracies.
• Inspect completed parts for conformance to drawings and customer specifications.
• Read and interpret work orders, and engineering drawings.
• Identify and report equipment issues before they become production failures.
• Perform routine operator maintenance and keep maintenance records current.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Work closely with engineering and production personnel to improve efficiency and solve manufacturing challenges.
• Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of laser cutting experience.
• Minimum 2 years operating Trumpf laser systems.
• Experience with Trumpf CO₂ laser technology is required.
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision inspection tools.
• Strong understanding of laser cutting parameters for:
• Mild Steel
• Aluminum
• Stainless Steel
• Ability to perform machine setup and troubleshoot production issues independently.
• Computer proficiency.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with sheet nesting and part optimization.
• Forklift certification.
• Experience in a commercial vehicle fabrication environment.
• CAD/CAM experience.
• Preventive maintenance experience on Trumpf laser equipment.

• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to diagnose cutting and piercing issues.
• Understanding of beam alignment, nozzle centering, and focal position verification.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple jobs simultaneously.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
• Ability to handle sheet metal and fabricated parts safely.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise and exposure to fabrication equipment.

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
