Misco UK is seeking a dynamic and proactive 1st Line Technical Support Specialist to join our growing IT Support team in Rushden, Northamptonshire.

In this role, you will be the first point of contact for users experiencing technical issues, providing prompt and effective support to minimise disruption to business operations. Your enthusiasm, technical aptitude, and excellent communication skills will help deliver exceptional customer service while resolving a wide range of hardware, software, and network-related issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to support requests received through the helpdesk system, ensuring timely resolution or escalation where required.
• Diagnose and resolve issues relating to desktop hardware, operating systems (Windows, macOS and Linux), and business applications, including Microsoft 365.
• Assist users with networking issues, including LAN, VPN, DNS, TCP/IP, firewall, and wireless connectivity problems.
• Support Active Directory administration, including user account creation, password resets, and permission management.
• Troubleshoot operating system, software, and peripheral-related issues.
• Maintain accurate records of support activities, incidents, and resolutions within the service management system.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot computer hardware and peripheral faults effectively.
• Explain technical solutions clearly and professionally to non-technical users.
• Analyse problems quickly and implement efficient, customer-focused solutions.
• Support IT security practices, including firewall management, access controls, and adherence to company security policies.

Skills & ExperienceEssential

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• A understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications.
• Basic knowledge of computer networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, and wireless networking.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• A genuine passion for technology and a willingness to learn.

Desirable

• Previous experience within an IT support, helpdesk, or customer service environment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server environments.
• Understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
• Relevant IT qualifications or certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft certifications or equivalent) - desirable but not necessary
