About The Team Tesla’s Systems Validation Team is seeking interns who will be responsible for ensuring firmware for new vehicle features and new hardware are designed, implemented and tested to achieve Tesla’s standards for safety and customer experience.

The intern will develop Drive Systems sysval infrastructure and prepare the hardware environment, targeting an agent-ready, validatable environment that can be used by agents.

What To Expect

• Develop Drive Systems sysval infrastructure and prepare the hardware environment, targeting an agent-ready, validatable environment that can be used by AI agents.
• Work with the cross-discipline development and design engineers throughout the engineering organization to ensure the relevant subsystems are designed with appropriate requirements, interfaces and interactions to achieve specific vehicle functions.
• Understand and debug interfaces/interactions required for successful implementation of complex vehicle level firmware.
• Develop, document and execute comprehensive system and sub-system level test specifications and test plans based on system requirements.
• Invent methods and build technology to execute tests and evaluate results efficiently and repeatedly.
• Specify, design, develop and integrate test automation frameworks and tools.
• Deliver test setups to integrate new subsystems with simulated and/or actual vehicle components.
• Report and track issues with software and/or hardware releases.
• Investigate field issues through data analysis and issue reproduction.
• Continuously look for ways to improve the safety, performance and customer satisfaction with Tesla products

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Automation, or a related technical field.
• Understanding of hardware and software development processes.
• Hands-on technical experience debugging complex systems involving networked microprocessors and software-controlled electrical or electromechanical devices.
• Experience with Python or other scripting languages and C and/or C++ for embedded systems.
• Ability to use oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other electrical test instruments to support troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of PCBs and schematics: able to read a schematic, identify components, nets, power and ground, and connectors, and relate the board to the signals under test. Familiarity with Altium or a similar schematic tool is a plus.
• Experience using AI tools to write, review, and debug code, or to speed up test development, is a plus.
• Have an exceptional capacity for managing simultaneous activities and challenges.
• Professional working English across listening, speaking, reading, and writing: able to follow and join spoken technical discussions, read specifications and code reviews, and write clear emails, test plans, and issue reports.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate complex technical concepts.
• Understanding of physics and first principles.
