360 excavator operator

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious 360 Excavator Operator to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out lifting operations into a shaft and undertaking topsoil removal as part of site preparation and excavation works.

This role requires a competent operator with experience working around lifting operations, a strong understanding of site health and safety procedures, and the ability to work closely with site management and ground teams to ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a 360-degree excavator to carry out lifting operations into a shaft in accordance with site procedures and lifting plans.
• Undertake topsoil stripping and removal to prepare the site for subsequent construction and excavation activities.
• Safely position, operate and manoeuvre the excavator in restricted or designated working areas.
• Work closely with the lifting team, slinger/signallers, banksmen and site supervisors to coordinate lifting activities.
• Follow approved lifting plans, method statements, risk assessments and site instructions.
• Carry out daily plant inspections and report any defects, damage or mechanical issues immediately.
• Maintain safe working distances from personnel, structures, underground services and other site equipment.
• Ensure all lifting and excavation activities are completed in accordance with site health and safety requirements.
• Wear the appropriate PPE and comply with all site-specific safety procedures.
• Maintain clear communication with the site team to ensure work is completed safely and to programme.

Essential Requirements

• Valid CPCS or NPORS Blue Card relevant to the 360 excavator operation being undertaken.
• Valid safety-critical medical.
• Proven experience operating 360 excavators on construction or civil engineering sites.
• Experience undertaking lifting operations and/or working around shaft operations.
• Experience with topsoil stripping, removal and general earthworks.
• Strong understanding of site safety procedures, lifting operations and excavation hazards.
• Ability to follow site instructions, risk assessments and method statements.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a site team.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be an experienced 360 Excavator Operator who takes pride in safe working practices, operates plant with precision and understands the importance of communication during lifting operations. Previous experience lifting materials into shafts and carrying out topsoil removal will be highly advantageous.
