360 operator

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused 360 Machine Operative to work within a busy scrap metal recycling area of our yard. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating 360 machines fitted with specialist attachments to process vehicles for scrap while maintaining high safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate 360 excavators safely and efficiently in a scrap metal environment
• Separating materials and different metal types from vehicles
• Sort and process ferrous and non-ferrous metals according to site procedures
• Carry out daily machine checks and basic maintenance
• Report defects, hazards, or maintenance issues promptly
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times
• Work closely with yard staff, weighbridge operators, and supervisors
• Keep work areas clean, tidy, and organised

Requirements & Qualifications

• Valid 360 Excavator ticket (e.g. CPCS or NPORS)
• Proven experience operating 360 machines, ideally within scrap metal or recycling
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good awareness of surroundings in a fast-paced yard environment
• Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious

Desirable Skills

• Experience using scrap-handling attachments
• Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals
• Previous experience in recycling, waste management, or heavy industry

Shift pattern

• Schedule indcludes working every other Saturday
• 07:30 - 17:00 Monday - Friday
• 08:00 - 16:00 Saturday shift

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £38,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
