360 TELEHANDLER OPERATOR

Position Overview

The 360 Telehandler Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating 360-degree rotating telehandler equipment on construction, industrial, and development sites. The role requires precision, spatial awareness, and strict adherence to health and safety protocols. The operator will load, unload, and position materials, whilst maintaining plant equipment and ensuring compliance with site safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate 360 telehandler equipment safely and efficiently to load, unload, and position materials on site

• Conduct pre-use and post-use equipment inspections and report defects, malfunctions, or maintenance requirements

• Comply with all site-specific load charts, working load limits, and safe working practices

• Communicate clearly with ground crew, banksmen, and site supervisors to coordinate lifting operations

• Position materials accurately to meet site specifications and project requirements

• Monitor load stability and adjust positioning to prevent dropped loads or equipment damage

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of equipment and work area; perform routine maintenance as required • Comply with all health, safety, and environmental protocols on site, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Keep accurate records of plant usage, hours, and any incidents or damage

• Respond to equipment breakdowns and liaise with maintenance teams; perform emergency stops when safety is at risk

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 2 years' experience operating 360 telehandler equipment on construction or industrial sites

• Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Telehandler Operator card, or equivalent recognised certification

• Understanding of lifting operations, load charts, and safe working practices

• Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to plant operation (LOLER, PUWER, HSE guidance)

• Demonstrable competency in pre-use equipment checks and fault diagnosis

• Valid driving licence (desirable)

• Literate and numerate to the extent required to read technical information and maintain records

• Ability to work in all weather conditions Key Competencies

• Clear communication with ground crew and supervisors; ability to work under instruction

• Physical fitness and coordination for prolonged equipment operation

• Reliability, punctuality, and ability to work shift patterns as required

• Strong safety culture and commitment to zero-harm working practices Health & Safety Requirements

• Valid CSCS Telehandler card (or equivalent Plant Operative certification) – current and not expiring during employment

• Site induction and toolbox talks as required by project

• Compliance with on-site health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments

• Fitness for manual handling, working at height, and working in confined or complex environments

• Understanding of slinger and signaller responsibilities; ability to communicate with ground crew

• Willingness to attend refresher training and competency assessments as required

Pay: £19.00-£24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
