• Lead and architectural role in mechanical for product development.
• Will work closely with business team to define product requirements/specifications based on market requirement and to architect the product design and development meeting the feature & quality expectation.
• Organize team activities in mechanical architecture design, parts design and validation.
• Work with program manager to ensure design schedule, prototype builds, cost and quality goals are met.
• Manage 3rd party design house on product design if required.
• Provide expertise in terms of mechanical design, material selection, product simulation, part fabrication process, design verification approach, troubleshooting & problem solving methodology to the mechanical team.
• Train and coach young engineers to enhance their technical skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead product and feature development
• To define ME system/robustness test and guide test team perform test verifications to ensure the designs comply with product requirement.
• To drive ME deliverables and meet the major project milestone and to ensure the product shipping on schedule.
• To work with cross functional team members within the organization and customers with different cultures and comfortable to work with virtual team members from remote sites.
• Organize team activities in mechanical architecture design, parts design and validation.
• Ensure design schedule, prototype builds, cost and quality goals are met
• Lead a team of engineers and/or designers through different phases of the product development, lead critical troubleshooting and problem solving in mechanical design
• Lead mechanical design review committee, ensure the product robustness and cost effectiveness are achieved before mechanical design is released for tooling.
• Boost innovation within the mechanical team.
• Drive standardization of the procedure/process/system of mechanical design team. REQUIREMENT
• Mechanical engineering degree holder or equivalent degree from a recognized university. Higher degree is preferred.
• Min 7 years’ experience in Product Development environment.
• Knowledgeable in emerging technologies, state of art mechanical design, material/tooling trend including but not limited to mobile, automotive and medical industries.
• Proven experience in providing technical solutions in product design. Experience to architect full mechanical structure with multiple electrical-mechanical parts.
• Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to see assignments through to completion with minimal oversight. Good communication and influencing skills to work across the functional team.
• Proficiency with Pro-E design tools
• Familiarize with international ME test standard such as MIL standard etc.
• Prior experience in mobile phone, IOT devices are added advantage.
