Maintenance Supervisor – 3rd Shift
United Hospital Services, LLC
Indianapolis, Indiana | Full-Time
Schedule: 3rd Shift | 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Lead, Improve, and Build Your Future at UHS
United Hospital Services is looking for an experienced maintenance professional who is ready for more than another technician position. We are seeking a hands-on 3rd Shift Maintenance Supervisor who can lead people, solve difficult equipment problems, and help shape the future of maintenance at our Indianapolis operation.
UHS provides essential healthcare textile services to hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout Indiana. Our operation depends on complex industrial equipment, reliable utility systems, and a maintenance team that knows how to respond when production needs support. This is a highly visible leadership position with the ability to make an immediate and measurable impact.
Just as importantly, this is a position with a future. UHS is continuing to invest in equipment, automation, facilities, and leadership development. The person who succeeds in this role will have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and advance into broader maintenance or operational leadership positions within the company.
The Opportunity
As 3rd Shift Maintenance Supervisor, you will lead the overnight maintenance team responsible for maintaining our industrial production equipment and facility systems. You will establish nightly priorities, coordinate preventive maintenance, oversee equipment repairs, and ensure machinery and facility systems are prepared for the following day's production.
This is not a desk-only supervisory role. The right person will be visible on the plant floor, working alongside the maintenance team, helping diagnose difficult problems, developing employees, and making sure repairs are completed correctly.
The overnight shift plays a critical role in equipment reliability. You will have the authority and responsibility to improve maintenance practices, strengthen preventive maintenance, reduce equipment downtime, and ensure the facility is ready for daily operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, scheduling, training, and developing 3rd shift maintenance employees.
- Troubleshooting electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Planning and coordinating overnight preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, and facility upkeep.
- Ensuring equipment is operational and ready for the start of first-shift production.
- Supporting the safe and efficient operation of boiler room, steam, water-treatment, and other building systems.
- Coordinating with other maintenance supervisors and production leadership to prioritize maintenance needs.
- Communicating equipment conditions, outstanding repairs, and maintenance activities during shift transitions.
- Maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring compliance with company safety procedures.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a dependable leader who understands industrial maintenance and can effectively manage an overnight maintenance operation with limited direct oversight.
You should be comfortable reading schematics, blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical procedures. You should also be able to organize competing priorities, communicate clearly, make sound decisions independently, and remain composed when urgent equipment issues arise.
Qualified candidates should have three to five years of industrial maintenance experience, training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
An associate degree or technical-school education in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, mechanical technology, or a related field is preferred.
Previous experience as a maintenance supervisor, lead technician, or team leader is strongly preferred.
Work Schedule: This is a full-time, 3rd shift position working 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. Some schedule flexibility may be required to support operational needs, special projects, or maintenance emergencies.
Why UHS?
At UHS, maintenance is not treated as an afterthought. It is a critical part of our ability to serve healthcare customers, operate safely, and continue growing. In this position, your ideas, leadership, and technical knowledge will matter.
You will have the opportunity to lead a team, improve maintenance systems, participate in equipment and facility projects, and build a long-term career with a stable company serving an essential industry.
If you are ready to move beyond simply repairing equipment and begin leading people, improving operations, and building the next stage of your career, we would like to hear from you.
Apply today and help lead the team that keeps UHS moving.
