Work Mode : In-Office
Location : Bengaluru (Bannerghatta Road)
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain components of the Amagi Cloudport Playout pipeline — media essence handling (video, audio, subtitles, metadata), encode/decode and media processing, MPEG-TS muxing, and network transmission of media.
- Take ownership of assigned Playout components end to end: feature development, unit and integration testing, performance and stability improvements, and resolution of escalated technical issues for those components.
- Work in C++ on Linux within a standards-driven codebase (SMPTE, DVB, ATSC), with Python for tooling and automation.
- Partner with senior engineers to deliver Enterprise customer requirements, including feature requests, customizations and integrations, and interoperability with legacy broadcast hardware.
- Contribute to platform health initiatives — SDK upgrades, EOL migrations and security remediation.
- Ramp into the broadcast domain with structured mentoring, and grow towards independent ownership of a functional area.
Skills and Expertise Required:
- BE / BTech / MTech in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical or a related engineering discipline.
- Around 2 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong programming ability in C++ on Linux. Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, memory management and multi-threaded/concurrent programming.
- Practical debugging and troubleshooting skills on Linux — gdb, valgrind, log and core analysis, performance profiling.
- Working knowledge of computer networking fundamentals (TCP/UDP, sockets, IP). Scripting ability in Python for automation and tooling.
- Comfortable with Git-based workflows, code review and CI pipelines.
- Demonstrated aptitude and appetite for low-level, systems-oriented engineering, and the ability to learn a deep, standards-heavy domain.
- Strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to work directly with cross-functional and customer-facing teams.
Preferred
- Exposure to digital media or video engineering: media essence handling, container and transport formats, or audio/video processing.
- Familiarity with codecs and media formats — H.264/AVC, HEVC, AAC, MPEG-TS, MP4, MXF.
- Hands-on experience with media frameworks or tooling such as FFmpeg or GStreamer.
- Awareness of broadcast standards — SMPTE, DVB, ATSC, SCTE — or of subtitle and caption formats.
- Exposure to media transport protocols: RTP, SRT, RIST, SMPTE 2022-7.
- Experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS, including S3) and containerised deployment.
- Any prior work in broadcast, OTT, streaming or media technology, including interoperability with broadcast hardware.
- Prior internship or project work in multimedia, signal processing or embedded systems.
