7+/8+/11+ Tutor

SYNTHESIS – Experienced 7+ & 11+ Teacher/Tutor
Location: South Kensington
Type of work: Part-time (Weekends during term time, Monday-Friday during school holidays)
Start date: ASAP
Rate of pay: £300/day (Sunday, 9:45am–3:30pm) for small group classes. £50-£100/hour for 1:1 classes.

The Role
Synthesis is a weekend teaching programme that prepares children for competitive entrance exams (7+, 8+, and 11+). We are looking for a warm, confident, and proactive class teacher. You will be responsible for a small group class, from the following ages:

• Year 1 (ages 5-6) - Pre-7+
• Year 2 (ages 6-7) - 7+
• Year 3 (ages 7-8) - 8+
• Year 5 (ages 8-9) - 11+

All material and answers are produced in house, and provided on the day.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Behavioural management and pastoral care of children on-site.
• Maintaining a calm, positive atmosphere in communal areas, especially when other groups are present.
• Greeting children at the school entrance and ensuring no parents come inside the building.
• Supporting the teaching and learning of pupils in small groups.
• Helping children stay focused and engaged during sessions.
• Liaising with the lead tutor to support the learning environment and address any concerns.
• Communicating academic and behavioural feedback with parents

• Experience working with primary-aged children, in an academic demanding environment.
• Confident managing behaviour in a warm but firm manner.
• Friendly, dependable, and adaptable.
• A passion for education and a belief in the potential of every child.
• Punctual and reliable, with strong communication skills.

Essential Requirements

• Right to work in the UK
• Enhanced DBS certificate
• Past Reception class teacher experience

Desirable

• Familiarity with 7+, 8+ & 11+ entrance exams
• First Aid training (not essential)

Job Types: Part-time, Freelance

Pay: £40.00-£100.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3.0 – 20.0 per week
