What they need

Introduction

Bigge Crane and Rigging has been elevating America since 1916. With over 1,800 cranes and a coast-to-coast presence, we buy, sell, rent, operate, and maintain one of the largest, most advanced crane fleets in the country. We have played a role in building some of America's most iconic landmarks and earned a reputation for doing it right - with performance, precision, and accountability.

Position Summary

The A&D Rigger assists with the assembly and disassembly of cranes under the direction of an A&D Technician. The role inspects crane components, including the luffer, jib, sheaves, wire rope, boom sections, pendants, tracks, anti-two-block devices, cab, glass, mirrors, warning signals, counterweights, winches, pump, engine, turntable, and related components. The A&D Rigger directs the operator or A&D Technician during crane movements needed to assemble or disassemble the boom and clearly directs truck drivers so crane parts can be loaded and offloaded safely and efficiently.

Daily work includes hammering pins, chaining down loads, pulling wire rope, and performing other manual labor tasks. The position also assists with driving safely and cautiously for extended periods between job sites. The successful candidate must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.

  • Assist with crane assembly.
  • Monitor for safety hazards and risks of equipment damage, and stop work when necessary.
  • Inspect all rigging equipment.
  • Attach loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
  • Tie guide ropes around loads to support lifting and positioning.
  • Signal the equipment operator during lifts to provide directional and placement instructions.

  • Place and remove outrigger pads from cranes and other heavy equipment.
  • Assist with crane disassembly.
  • Direct truck drivers to facilitate and organize the loading and offloading process.
  • Interact with customers in a professional manner.
  • Assist with troubleshooting crane issues after assembly and during the pre-job inspection.
  • Perform off-rent inspections and document damage or insufficient maintenance.
  • Complete electronic timecards and reports daily.

Education and Qualifications

  • Specific knowledge of rigging equipment and its capacities.
  • Knowledge of required tools and their proper use.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with coworkers and other work-related contacts.

  • Basic transportation knowledge related to moving equipment and loads between locations.
  • Working knowledge of arithmetic required for lift planning.
  • Willingness to follow all company directives and safety procedures.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Benefits
