The 8×10 has served a vibrant live music community for the last four decades by offering diverse entertainment and providing a warm, welcoming “third place” to joyfully gather. Over the last 40 years, the stage at 10 East Cross Street has hosted legendary acts including Nirvana, Widespread Panic, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phish, Chuck Berry, Dave Matthews Band, Lenny Kravitz, Jimmy Cliff and many more. As of 2026, The 8×10 has entered a new era of stewardship with an ownership group that includes beloved Baltimore musician Cris Jacobs and Rising Sun Presents, a Philadelphia-based live music production company. The 8×10 is a 300-capacity rock club that features a state of the art sound system, an open dance floor with a wraparound balcony, and a full bar with a wide selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. We plan to re-open October 6th!

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled A1 Audio Engineer & Lighting Engineer to run lead production for our live shows. In this dual-role position, you will own the front-of-house (FOH) sound, manage stage monitors, and operate our light show to ensure exceptional production quality for every performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, mix, and operate FOH sound and monitor mixes for live bands, DJs, and acoustic acts.
• Manage stage setups, microphone placement, cabling, backline requirements, and strike/load-out.
• Conduct efficient, professional soundchecks while keeping artists comfortable and on schedule.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform routine checks on the venue’s PA system, mixing console, microphones, and audio signal paths.
• Program and trigger dynamic lighting looks (busking) synced with live music performances using our lighting controller/software.
• Ensure proper operation, positioning, and basic maintenance of stage fixtures, DMX connections, and haze/fog machines.
• Serve as the primary production contact for touring band crews and artists during load-in and soundcheck.
• Enforce stage safety, cable management, and proper volume levels per local sound ordinances and venue guidelines.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5.0 – 20.0 per week
