A4 Chargeman

About the role

This role involves performing scheduled inspections and maintenance of electrical equipment, including motors, transformers, switchgear and electrical control panels. You will work closely with the Facilities Engineer to identify electrical faults and determine suitable corrective actions, while executing preventive maintenance programmes and attending to equipment failures when required.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled inspections and maintenance of electrical equipment, including motors, transformers, switchgear and electrical control panels
• Work closely with the Facilities Engineer to identify electrical faults and determine suitable corrective actions
• Execute preventive maintenance programmes and attend to equipment failures when required
• Ensure all electrical work is conducted safely in accordance with established procedures, including the proper use of PPE and lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices
• Assist with electrical wiring, cable connections, jointing works and the installation of electrical devices
• Observe equipment operating conditions, identify unusual performance and report any issues to the relevant personnel
• Document maintenance work, inspection findings and test results accurately for record-keeping purposes
• Support the inspection, calibration and functional testing of electrical instruments and protective relay systems
• Provide technical assistance during urgent repair works, plant shutdowns and other maintenance operations

About you

• Possess a valid Chargeman A4 certificate or licence issued by the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga)
• Possess good analytical thinking and the ability to identify and resolve electrical faults
• Be prepared to work on a shift basis and comply with all established safety procedures
• Be competent in handling electrical tools and testing devices, including insulation resistance testers, multimeters and other electrical measuring instruments
