Ab Initio Developer

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Ab Initio Developer to join our innovative data engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining robust data processing solutions that power our enterprise analytics and business intelligence initiatives. Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize complex Ab Initio graphs and workflows to facilitate efficient data processing and integration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions aligned with business needs.
• Implement and maintain ETL pipelines using Ab Initio tools, ensuring reliable data movement across on-premises and cloud environments such as AWS, Azure Data Lake, and Public Cloud platforms.
• Manage large-scale big data systems including Hadoop, Spark, Hive, and other distributed processing frameworks to handle vast datasets effectively.
• Develop and enhance data models utilizing dimensional modeling techniques for data warehousing design and query management.
• Integrate diverse data sources like SQL databases (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle), NoSQL (Linked Data), and cloud databases to create unified views for analytics tools like Looker.
• Write efficient SQL queries, Python scripts, shell scripts (Bash/Unix), and RESTful APIs to automate workflows and support continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
• Ensure adherence to best practices in data management, security protocols, and compliance standards while supporting agile development methodologies.

Skills

• Proven experience with Ab Initio development including graph design, metadata management, and performance tuning.
• Strong proficiency in SQL programming across various databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and cloud-based SQL services.
• Expertise in big data technologies including Hadoop ecosystem components (HDFS, Hive), Spark, Kafka, and Azure Data Lake.
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms like AWS and Public Cloud environments for deploying scalable data solutions.
• Familiarity with ETL pipeline development using tools like Talend or Informatica for comprehensive data integration workflows.
• Knowledge of data modeling principles including dimensional modeling for effective warehouse design.
• Experience with business intelligence tools such as Looker for creating dashboards and reports based on processed data.
• Ability to write Bash or Shell scripts for automation tasks within Unix/Linux environments.
• Strong analysis skills combined with a keen eye for detail to troubleshoot issues efficiently in complex systems.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders in an Agile setting.
