Academic Counsellor- Study Abroad

style="margin-left:0in; margin-right:0in"> We are looking for an experienced Academic Counsellor to guide students through their study-abroad journey - from shortlisting the right universities and courses to supporting a successful application and visa process. The ideal candidate has hands-on counselling experience, a strong understanding of international education systems, and the ability to build genuine trust with students and parents through an often complex and emotional decision-making process.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Student Counselling

• Counsel students and parents on suitable study destinations, universities and courses based on academic profile, budget and career goals.
• Conduct detailed profile assessments to identify the best-fit options for each student.
• Address questions and concerns around eligibility, costs, scholarships, visas and post-study options.
• Build long-term trust with students and families through honest, well-informed guidance.

2. Application Support

• Guide students through the end-to-end application process, including documentation, SOPs, LORs and deadlines.
• Review application materials for quality and completeness before submission.
• Coordinate with partner universities/institutions on application status and requirements.
• Support students with interview preparation where applicable.

3. Visa & Pre-Departure Guidance

• Advise students on visa requirements, documentation and the overall visa application process.
• Coordinate pre-departure briefings covering accommodation, travel and settling-in essentials.
• Liaise with internal/external visa and documentation specialists as needed.

4. Lead Management & Conversion

• Handle inbound enquiries and convert them into active applications through structured follow-up.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student interactions, status and next steps in the CRM.
• Achieve individual counselling and conversion targets as defined by management.

5. Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with the marketing and business development teams on lead quality and outreach feedback.
• Stay updated on changing university requirements, intake deadlines and visa policies across destinations.
• Share regular reports on counselling activity, pipeline status and conversions with management.

Who Were Looking For

• Minimum 2 years of experience in academic/study-abroad counselling, admissions or international education.
• Strong working knowledge of study destinations (e.g., USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Europe), university requirements and visa processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with students and parents.
• Target-driven with strong follow-up discipline and lead management skills.
• Detail-oriented, especially when reviewing applications and documentation.
• Comfortable using CRM tools and managing a high volume of student interactions.

Qualifications

• Graduate/Postgraduate in any discipline.
• Certification in international education counselling is an added advantage.

• Number of successful visa outcomes supported.
• Student and parent satisfaction/feedback scores.
• Timeliness and accuracy of application submissions.
