About the role
The Academic Senior Manager will provide academic leadership and oversight for the Hub's developing education portfolio in Indonesia. You will lead curriculum implementation, teaching and learning, assessment, academic quality assurance, workforce planning and student progression within the assigned portfolio. Working closely with the Director, Indonesia, RMIT program owners, Colleges, Schools and professional teams, you will ensure delivery aligns with approved curriculum, University academic standards, policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
This is a practical leadership role in an evolving education environment. You will translate academic requirements into effective local delivery, support continuous improvement and contribute to the development of additional programs and education opportunities as the Hub's portfolio grows.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the establishment, implementation and ongoing academic management of programs within the assigned portfolio, working with relevant RMIT program owners and academic and professional teams.
- Oversee curriculum implementation, learning outcomes, assessment and moderation, maintaining consistent academic standards and delivery quality.
- Lead academic quality assurance and governance, including academic integrity and compliance with applicable RMIT policies and Australian and Indonesian regulatory, accreditation and quality requirements.
- Promote contemporary, inclusive and student-centred teaching and learning, supporting teaching staff to deliver effective learning experiences.
- Lead academic workforce planning, recruitment and selection, induction, teaching allocation, professional development and performance support.
- Build a collaborative academic culture, providing clear direction and practical support so teaching staff are equipped to meet RMIT expectations.
- Monitor student performance, attendance, engagement and progression, and coordinate academic interventions and support with relevant teams.
- Support student transition and progression to further study, including relevant RMIT pathways and other opportunities associated with the assigned programs.
- Evaluate program performance using student outcomes, retention, progression, feedback and teaching quality, and lead improvements to delivery and student experience.
- Maintain effective relationships with RMIT Colleges, Schools, program owners and professional teams to align local delivery with University requirements and strategic priorities.
About you
- Academic leadership experience in higher education, pathway or tertiary education, with responsibility for the delivery and oversight of high-quality programs.
- Experience in curriculum implementation, assessment, moderation, academic governance, quality assurance, academic integrity and continuous improvement.
- Understanding of contemporary teaching and learning practices and the ability to promote inclusive, student-centred learning.
- Experience leading academic staff, including workforce planning, recruitment, induction, professional development and performance support.
- Experience monitoring student performance, engagement and progression, and implementing interventions to support student success.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to collaborate with academic leaders, professional teams, education partners and other stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with sound judgement and the ability to provide clear direction in an evolving environment.
- Ability to work effectively in international and cross-cultural education, balancing institutional standards with local student, partner and regulatory requirements.
- A postgraduate qualification in education, TESOL, applied linguistics, a relevant academic discipline or a related field is required.
- Highly desirable: Experience in Foundation Studies, English language, pathway and/or transnational education, together with knowledge of the Indonesian education environment.
