What they need

Academy Program Coordinator – Cairns & Far North QLD

Full-Time | Multiple Locations Across QLD

Lead. Mentor. Inspire.
We’re a not-for-profit organisation transforming the lives of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men across metropolitan, regional, and remote Australia. Our goal is to improve their education, self-esteem, life skills, and employment prospects. Through sport, recreation, camps, and mentorship, our Academies engage students, support their schooling, and equip them to participate meaningfully in their communities - building a stronger future for themselves and others.

The Role

We’re looking for passionate Program Coordinators to lead and inspire in our Academies across Cairns and Far North Queensland.
This hands-on role oversees a program that connects with high school boys through education, sport, mentoring, wellbeing and employment pathways.

As a leader, mentor, and role model, you’ll build trusted relationships with students, schools, families, and community partners - empowering young men to grow and succeed academically, socially, and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive school attendance, retention, and Year 12 graduation outcomes.
  • Deliver engaging sport, camps, and life-skills activities that build participation and teamwork.
  • Mentor and guide students, providing wellbeing support and positive role modelling.
  • Build strong relationships with families, schools, and community partners.
  • Lead and develop a small team while managing budgets, reporting and compliance.
  • Support students to identify employment and post-school opportunities.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven leadership experience in youth, education, or community programs (experience in regional or remote communities is a plus).
  • A genuine role model who inspires trust and respect.
  • Strong organisation, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Passion for sport, youth development, and creating positive change.
  • Active, energetic, and up for the challenge of working across diverse communities.
  • Background in education, sports coaching, youth work, or community development highly valued.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Be part of something life-changing.
  • Supportive, team-driven culture with a strong sense of purpose.
  • Professional development and clear career progression opportunities.
  • Competitive salary + salary packaging benefits.
  • 12 weeks paid leave.
