Access Control & Automatic Operator Project Manager

Job Summary

Kelley Bros is looking for an Access Control & Automatic Operator Project Manager to join our Barre, Vermont team.

This position will manage electronic access control and automatic operator projects from project turnover through completion. We are looking for someone who understands the technical side of the work but is equally comfortable coordinating customers, contractors, technicians, materials, schedules, and project documentation.

The right candidate will be organized, accountable, technically capable, and comfortable taking ownership of multiple projects at different stages of completion.

This is an opportunity to join and help grow Kelley Bros' electronic access control and automatic operator business in Vermont and the surrounding region. The Barre operation is focused on electronic access control, automatic operators, and AAADM inspection services.

What You'll Do

Project Management

• Manage access control and automatic operator projects from turnover through completion.
• Review drawings, specifications, hardware schedules, project scope, and contractual requirements.
• Develop and maintain project schedules.
• Coordinate material purchasing, deliveries, manpower, and field installation.
• Work closely with customers, general contractors, electricians, technicians, vendors, and other trades.
• Monitor project costs, labor, materials, and overall progress.
• Identify potential scope gaps and project issues before they affect the schedule.
• Identify, document, and manage change-order opportunities.
• Keep customers and internal teams informed of project status.

These responsibilities align closely with the project-management expectations in Kelley Bros' existing Access Control & Automatic Operator career structure.

Technical Coordination

• Review access control openings and automatic operator applications for proper coordination.
• Help resolve field conditions and installation issues.
• Coordinate installation, programming, testing, and final commissioning.
• Verify completed installations are operating properly.
• Make sure required project documentation is completed before closeout.
• Help minimize callbacks and warranty issues through good planning and quality control.

Customer & Contractor Relationships

• Serve as a primary Kelley Bros contact for assigned projects.
• Communicate professionally with owners, contractors, architects, vendors, and other project partners.
• Address project concerns promptly and escalate issues when necessary.
• Build long-term customer relationships that lead to repeat business.

Your existing internal career structure specifically identifies the role as a primary field contact responsible for project communication and maintaining professional relationships.

What We're Looking For

Ideal experience includes:

• Project management experience in access control, automatic doors/operators, electrical, low-voltage, security, door hardware, or a related construction trade.
• Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, and hardware schedules.
• Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
• Understanding of construction sequencing and coordination between trades.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple active projects and priorities.
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a larger team.
• Working knowledge of electronic access control systems and/or automatic operators is strongly preferred.

Experience That Would Be a Plus:

• Electronic access control installation or project-management experience.
• Automatic operator installation or project-management experience.
• Door and hardware industry experience.
• Low-voltage/electrical experience.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors or field technicians.
• AAADM certification or experience with AAADM inspections.
• Experience with manufacturers and platforms commonly used in commercial access control.

Kelley Bros' Barre business plan specifically includes electronic access control systems, automatic operators, and development of recurring AAADM inspection services.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
