Accordion Instructor

About The Opportunity The Flint School of Performing Arts is looking for a driven, dedicated, and enthusiastic Accordion Instructor. Under the direction of the Piano Department Chair, the Accordion Instructor provides instruction for all ages from beginning through advanced levels.

Specific Responsibilities And Qualifications Instruction and Mentorship

• Guide students using a variety of teaching methods and materials that foster growth and creative exploration.
• Provide expert music instruction, including demonstration during lessons.
• Ensure students are performance-ready and understand the process of translating practice work into a public presentation.
• Establish a good rapport with students and families, encouraging open discussion.
• Administrative
• Manage logistics, including but not limited to: communication with FSPA office staff, lesson scheduling, registration, and regular communication with students and families.
• Adhere to all FIM policies and procedures set forth.

Community Building

• Foster an inclusive, student-centered environment that supports risk-taking, mutual respect, and creative expression.
• Support outreach and communication efforts to help raise awareness, engage new participants, and connect the work of the Flint School of Performing Arts to the broader community.
• Model curiosity, openness, and professionalism in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the field and related teaching experience preferred
• Experience teaching diverse styles of music preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Effective communication skills
