Account Administrator

About the role

Song Yan & Tang is seeking an Account Administrator to join our accounting team in Johor Bahru, Johor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity and operational efficiency of our organisation. As an Account Administrator, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records, and supporting the broader accounting function. This role is essential to our business operations and offers the opportunity to develop your accounting career within a professional and collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Processing and recording financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payments, with accuracy and attention to detail

• Maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts and subsidiary ledgers on a regular basis

• Preparing bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies promptly

• Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and management reports

• Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing and payment scheduling

• Filing and organising financial documents and records in accordance with company procedures and statutory requirements

• Supporting the month-end and year-end closing processes

• Performing data entry and maintaining accurate financial records within accounting systems

• Assisting with audit preparation and providing documentation as required

What we're looking for

• Relevant accounting qualifications such as LCCI, AAT, or equivalent professional accounting certification
• Proven experience working as an Accounts Officer, Accounts Clerk, or in a similar accounting administrative role
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and systems, with competency in Microsoft Excel and financial management tools
• Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Sound knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping practices, and financial reporting requirements
• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
• Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders
• Reliability and integrity in handling sensitive financial information and maintaining confidentiality
• Experience with Malaysian accounting regulations and tax compliance would be advantageous
• A commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with accounting practices
