Account assistant

About the role

We are seeking an Account Assistant to join the Finance team at YUNG CHI PAINT & VARNISH MFG. (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. This is a full-time position based in Bukit Rambai, Melaka. As an Account Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of our organisation. You will work alongside our finance team to ensure accurate financial records, process transactions efficiently, and maintain the integrity of our accounting systems. This position is essential to the smooth functioning of our financial operations and contributes directly to the company's financial accuracy and compliance.

What you'll be doing

• Processing and recording financial transactions, including invoices, purchase orders, and expense claims
• Reconciling bank statements and identifying discrepancies
• Maintaining and updating accounts payable and accounts receivable records
• Preparing and filing financial documentation and supporting records
• Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures
• Data entry and verification of accounting information into financial systems
• Supporting the preparation of financial reports and statements
• Responding to invoice and payment queries from internal departments and external parties
• Ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures
• Assisting with general administrative duties related to the finance department

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Proven experience as an Account Assistant, Accounting Clerk, or similar role
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Excellent numerical and data entry skills with high attention to detail
• Sound understanding of basic accounting principles and practices
• Strong organisational and time management abilities
• Excellent written and spoken Malay & English (Mandarin is a strong advantage)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliability and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial information
• Familiarity with Malaysian accounting standards and tax regulations is preferred
