Account Clerk

About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Account Clerk to join FCC Consulting Engineer SDN BHD in Desa Petaling, Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in maintaining the financial integrity and operational efficiency of our organisation. As an Account Clerk, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records, and supporting the broader finance team in delivering timely and reliable financial information to stakeholders. This position is essential to the smooth functioning of our accounting department and contributes directly to the financial health of the company.

Key responsibilities

• Processing and recording financial transactions, including invoices, receipts and expense claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
• Maintaining general ledger accounts and reconciling accounts to ensure all financial records are current and accurate
• Preparing bank reconciliations and identifying discrepancies for resolution
• Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including processing payments and following up on outstanding invoices
• Filing and organising financial documents in both physical and digital formats for easy retrieval and audit purposes
• Supporting the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports
• Assisting with payroll processing and ensuring timely submission of payroll-related documents
• Performing data entry tasks accurately and efficiently using accounting software and spreadsheet applications
• Supporting the Finance Manager or Senior Accountant with ad hoc accounting tasks and special projects as required

What we're looking for

• A qualification in Accounting, Bookkeeping or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in bookkeeping and small practice accounting
• Proficiency in accounting software packages and Microsoft Excel; experience with SQL , AutoCount or similar platforms is highly desirable
• Strong numeracy skills and meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial record-keeping
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines consistently
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles, general ledger processes and financial reporting standards
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders
• Proficiency in data entry and experience with financial transactions processing
• A professional demeanour with the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive financial information
• Previous experience in a bookkeeping or small practice accounting environment is preferred
• Familiarity with Malaysian accounting standards and tax regulations would be advantageous
