Account Executive

About the role

The Accounts Executive is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting and finance operations of Mahnaz Retail, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, general ledger, outlet sales reconciliation, month-end closing, and preparation of financial reports. The role also supports audit, tax, statutory and management reporting requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Handle daily accounting transactions, including invoices, payments, receipts, debit notes and credit notes.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable and ensure transactions are properly recorded.
• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate outstanding or unusual transactions.
• Reconcile daily or monthly outlet sales, cash, card and e-wallet collections against POS or supporting records.
• Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and supporting schedules.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing.
• Prepare account schedules, accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments.
• Monitor outstanding customer balances and follow up on collections where applicable.
• Process supplier payments and ensure supporting documents and approvals are complete.
• Maintain proper filing and documentation for invoices, payment vouchers, receipts and accounting records.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Preferably 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience in retail, FMCG, trading or multi-outlet operations would be an advantage.
• Familiar with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles, AP, AR, GL and bank reconciliation.
• Able to handle high transaction volumes and meet monthly closing deadlines.
• Detail-oriented, organised and able to work independently.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Knowledge of SST, audit and Malaysian statutory requirements would be an advantage.
