Account Manager

Account Manager – Remote

Accounting Controller, Inc. is a well-established local Bookkeeping & Consulting Practice looking to expand our team. We are looking for an Account Manager who enjoys building strong client relationships and coordinating high-quality accounting services for a multitude of clients. You will work closely with the Owner of the Company and our accounting team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for an assigned portfolio of clients, ensuring timely, clear, and professional communication
• Lead new client onboarding: gather documentation, set up access to accounts and systems, and define scope of services
• Coordinate and assign client work to bookkeepers and staff accountants, monitoring progress and deadlines
• Review deliverables (bank reconciliations, financial statements, payroll and sales tax filings) for accuracy and completeness before they reach the client
• Track recurring deadlines for payroll tax, sales tax, 1099 and year-end filings across all assigned clients
• Identify client needs and opportunities for additional services, and support client retention
• Support client billing, including reviewing scope, hours, and invoices
• Maintain client information, tasks, and workflows up to date in our practice management platform
• Escalate issues proactively and help resolve client concerns quickly and effectively

Key Elements for Best Fit:

• Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting processes: bank reconciliations, financial statements, journal entries, AP/AR
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Desktop (Xero and Sage Accounting also preferred)
• Solid knowledge of payroll and sales tax compliance, including 940's, 941's, 1099's, W2's and W3's, SUTA, FUTA, DOR
• Experience managing multiple client accounts simultaneously in a professional services environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with a client-first mindset
• Excellent organizational skills, able to prioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines
• Comfortable coordinating and following up with team members to keep work on track
• Experience with practice management or project management tools is a plus
• Solid knowledge of Google Docs & Sheets and Microsoft Office
• Must have a positive attitude and be a team player
• Must be able to multitask and be comfortable accessing remote computer systems

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or client services at an accounting firm required
• Minimum of 2+ years in a client-facing or account management role preferred
• QuickBooks experience (Desktop and Online) required
• Payroll experience
• Understanding of multi-state sales tax and payroll tax reporting preferred
• Understanding of Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065 and 1040 preferred
• Fluency in English required; Spanish is a plus

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $50,553.14 - $69,311.31 per year
