Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join the finance team at Southern Arms Corporation. This is a full-time position based in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental. As an Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of our organisation by managing accounting operations, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This position is essential to supporting the company's financial planning and decision-making processes.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, journal entries and account reconciliations
• Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in a timely and accurate manner
• Preparing financial statements and reports in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies
• Conducting monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing procedures and ensuring all transactions are properly recorded
• Reconciling bank statements and resolving discrepancies to ensure accurate cash management
• Supporting the audit process by preparing documentation and responding to audit inquiries
• Monitoring and recording fixed assets, depreciation and asset disposals
• Assisting with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
• Ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations and preparing tax-related documentation
• Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations

What we're looking for

• A recognised accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent professional accounting certification
• Proven experience in financial accounting and reporting, preferably within a similar industry or organisational setting
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to manage multiple spreadsheets and data sets
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all accounting work and financial documentation
• Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards
• Solid knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements relevant to the Philippines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
• Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Preferred experience in budget management, cost analysis or management accounting
