What they need

About Us

Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) is the umbrella organisation for national football associations across Oceania, working to develop and promote football throughout the Pacific. We are committed to using football as a force for positive change and delivering programmes and initiatives that create lasting impact across our Member Associations and communities.

This is an exciting time to join OFC as we continue to grow our competitions, programmes and operations across the region.

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Accountant to join our Finance and Services team in Auckland, New Zealand.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play an important role in ensuring OFC maintains accurate financial records, strong financial controls and high-quality financial reporting. You will also provide financial advice and analytical support across the organisation, working closely with different departments and stakeholders to support effective financial decision-making.

About The Role

This is a broad, hands-on accounting position suited to a qualified Accountant who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and working collaboratively across an organisation.

You will be responsible for supporting OFC's day-to-day financial management while contributing to budgeting, reporting, audit, compliance and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Complete month-end and year-end accounting processes and financial reporting accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Prepare monthly, annual and specific-purpose financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support annual budgeting, cash flow management and forecasting across OFC.
  • Deliver financial management activities across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and statutory tax requirements.
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting notes in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Coordinate and prepare information for statutory, donor and internal audits.
  • Maintain effective financial controls and ensure accounting policies, systems and processes meet organisational requirements.
  • Manage capital expenditure requirements, including fixed assets and inventory systems.
  • Work closely with OFC departments to provide practical financial advice and support.
  • Communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems and service delivery.
  • Support the Finance Manager and wider Finance team to identify and manage financial risks.

About You

You will be a confident and experienced accounting professional who is comfortable taking initiative and building strong working relationships across different departments.

You will bring a practical, solutions-focused approach to Finance and be equally comfortable getting into the detail as you are explaining financial information to others.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor-level qualification in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.
  • CA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • At least 5 years' accounting experience.
  • Proven experience preparing monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Experience supporting or preparing for statutory audits.
  • Strong financial and analytical capability with excellent attention to detail.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence working with stakeholders across different departments and levels of an organisation.
  • The initiative to identify issues, recommend solutions and improve existing processes.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
  • A collaborative, professional and team-focused approach.
  • Experience with PBE financial processes and reporting standards, not-for-profit organisations and/or Sage Evolution would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • You must also be eligible to work in New Zealand and able to satisfy OFC's credit history and Ministry of Justice criminal history checking requirements.

Why Join Us

We offer you:

  • A competitive annual salary.
  • A hybrid working model offering the flexibility to work from home two days per week.
  • Free onsite parking.
  • A vibrant, passionate and supportive team culture.
  • An emphasis on professional development and growth opportunities.
  • The opportunity to work across a diverse international organisation and build relationships throughout the Pacific.
  • A chance to contribute to the continued growth and development of football across Oceania.
  • A full-time position, with a minimum guaranteed 40 hours per week.
