ACCOUNTANT

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join the finance team at Wee Chuan Sen Motor Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Muar, Johor, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the company's financial reporting objectives. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing reliable financial information to support strategic business decisions. This position is essential to the smooth operation of our finance department and the overall financial health of the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, record and reconcile financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger entries
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software and systems
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards
• Process invoices, purchase orders and expense claims in accordance with company policies
• Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Support the audit process by providing necessary documentation and explanations
• Monitor and track fixed assets, depreciation and asset disposals
• Assist with payroll processing and related tax compliance matters
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and errors
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and procedures

What we're looking for

• A relevant qualification in Accounting or Finance, such as a diploma or bachelor's degree
• Professional accounting certification such as AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) or equivalent qualification, or significant progress towards a professional qualification
• Proven experience in financial accounting and reporting, ideally within a similar industry
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant tax regulations
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping
• Sound understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and account reconciliation
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding professional ethics
