What they need

ACCOUNTANT

  • Competitive remuneration package
  • A collaborative team environment within one of New Zealand's leading manufacturers
  • Permanent full-time position

Make your mark with a New Zealand business that's growing around the globe.

For almost 90 years, Skellerup has used practical design, engineering and manufacturing expertise to solve real-world challenges. From dairy rubberware and accessories to specialised rubber footwear, our products help people work smarter, safer and more efficiently every day.

Designed in New Zealand and trusted in markets around the world, we're proud of where we've come from and focused on where we're going next.

As our business continues to grow and evolve, we're looking for an Accountant to join our Christchurch-based Finance Team.

This is an opportunity to build broad experience across financial accounting, manufacturing and product costing, inventory management, tax, reporting, and commercial finance. Working closely with the Finance Business Partner, you'll play an important role in supporting business performance and helping ensure the business continues to operate efficiently and effectively.

If you're looking for a role with variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to develop your commercial understanding alongside your technical accounting skills, we'd love to hear from you.

About the role

You'll work closely with the Finance Business Partner, Financial Controller and operational teams across the business, supporting a broad range of accounting and finance activities.

The role offers exposure across financial reporting, manufacturing and product costing, inventory management, tax, fixed assets, and business analysis. You'll play an important role in maintaining strong financial controls, delivering accurate reporting, and supporting business decision-making.

This is a great opportunity to build broad finance experience within a well-established New Zealand manufacturing business while working alongside experienced finance professionals in a collaborative team environment.

We're looking for someone with

  • CA qualified, or currently studying towards CA qualification
  • 2-3 years' accounting experience
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with ERP systems would be advantageous
  • A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of outcomes
  • An interest in manufacturing, costing and commercial finance

You'll thrive here if you

  • Enjoy understanding how a business operates and what drives performance
  • Like working across a broad range of finance activities
  • Want exposure beyond traditional financial accounting
  • Are naturally curious and enjoy solving problems
  • Enjoy working collaboratively with operational and commercial teams
  • Are keen to continue developing your accounting and commercial finance skills

What we offer

  • Competitive remuneration package
  • Broad exposure across financial accounting, manufacturing costing, inventory management and commercial finance
  • The opportunity to work closely with experienced finance professionals and operational leaders
  • A collaborative team environment within one of New Zealand's leading manufacturers
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities to support your career growth

Interested? Please apply with your CV and cover letter outlining why you're interested in joining Skellerup. Your application will include the following questions:

  • Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in New Zealand?
  • How many years' experience do you have in an accounting role?
  • Are you CA qualified or currently working towards CA qualification?

At Skellerup, we're committed to providing a safe and inclusive work environment and are an equal opportunity employer. We maintain a smoke, drug and alcohol-free workplace. All appointments are subject to a pre-employment medical assessment including a drug-screen and criminal history check.  Only candidates who are legally entitled to work in New Zealand will be considered.

Other offers great for you!
