ACCOUNTANT

About the role

Presqua (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a full-time Accountant to join our finance team in Alor Setar, Kedah. This is a key position within our management accounting and budgeting function, where you will play an essential role in supporting the financial health and operational efficiency of the organisation. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing, analysing and managing financial records, budgets and reports that directly inform strategic decision-making across the company. This position offers the opportunity to develop your accounting expertise whilst contributing meaningfully to our business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, including journal entries, ledger accounts and reconciliations
• Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely processing and collection
• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management accounts
• Supporting the preparation, monitoring and analysis of budgets and forecasts
• Conducting variance analysis to identify discrepancies between budgeted and actual figures
• Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures
• Performing account reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
• Supporting internal and external audit activities and maintaining compliance with accounting standards
• Providing financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making
• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting policies, procedures and Malaysian accounting regulations

What we're looking for

• A relevant accounting qualification such as ACCA, LCCI, AAT or equivalent professional accounting qualification
• Minimum 2-3 years' experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably in management accounting or budgeting functions
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and analyse financial models
• Solid understanding of Malaysian tax regulations, company accounting standards and financial reporting requirements
• Excellent attention to detail with strong numeracy and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
• Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English, both written and spoken
• Willingness to learn and develop expertise in new areas of accounting practice
