Accountant

Ruchika Pal CPA Professional Corporation is a growing CPA firm located in Brampton, Ontario, providing accounting, taxation and assurance services to a diverse portfolio of individual and corporate clients. We are looking for a motivated, responsible and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team.

The successful candidate should have 1–2 years of recent experience in a Canadian public accounting/CPA firm and be comfortable handling a variety of accounting and tax assignments.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare personal T1 and corporate T2 income tax returns
• Prepare GST/HST and WSIB returns
• Process and assist with payroll runs
• Prepare T4 and T5 returns
• Perform bookkeeping and year-end accounting work
• Prepare working papers, adjusting entries and supporting schedules
• Work with QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online
• Prepare compilation engagement files and financial statements
• Communicate with clients to obtain accounting and tax information
• Respond to CRA and other government correspondence as required
• Review financial information and identify discrepancies or unusual items
• Manage multiple client files and meet deadlines
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as required

Requirements & Qualifications

• 1–2 years of recent Canadian public accounting/CPA firm experience
• University degree or college diploma in Accounting, Business or a related field
• CPA student status or pursuing CPA is an asset
• Practical experience with T1 and T2 tax returns
• Experience with QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online
• Experience with Profile software is preferred
• Experience with payroll processing
• Knowledge of GST/HST, T4, T5 and WSIB filings
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
• Strong accounting and tax knowledge
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
