Accountant

Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to be responsible for managing financial operations, billing, merchant settlements, and reporting across multiple companies. The role spans financial administration, revenue management, operational payments, and audit/compliance support, acting as a key point of contact for internal teams, merchants, corporate customers, and auditors.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Accounting

• Manage books for three companies
• Oversee bank accounts, transfers, and reconciliations
• Process manual journals
• Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation
• Process and approve supplier invoices and ensure timely payment to suppliers
• Manage interest allocations and inter-account transfers
• Ensure accuracy of financial records and bookkeeping

Billing & Revenue Operations

• Manage customer invoicing across all companies
• Oversee customer billing
• Generate customer quotations
• Manage installation quotes and purchase orders
• Process ad-hoc invoices as per requirement / proposals
• Resolve customer billing queries and support internal teams
• Manage contractual fee adjustments, including determining and implementing increases to monthly rental fees as per contract terms

Payment & Settlement Operations

• Manage Merchant accounts
• Receive and reconcile incoming funds
• Pay merchants accurately
• Investigate failed mark-off files and resolve discrepancies
• Manage merchant and corporate customer relationships
• Oversee Prepaid process (quote → card printing → card loading)

Reporting, Compliance & Audit

• Generate monthly management reports
• Assist with annual audits
• Provide accurate financial documentation and explanations
• Manage supplier onboarding and vendor applications

Requirements

• Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) or similar specialising in Financial Management, Accounting, Management Accounting, or Business Administration
• 3-5 years experience in a similar role
• Experience within the Fintech industries will be an advantage
• Experience in Xero Accounting system will be an advantage
• Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, power queries) for handling massive, raw transaction data files

Skills & Competencies

• Working Capital Optimization: Maximising cash-to-cash conversion cycles by balancing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory velocity.
• Process Mapping & SOP Creation: Designing, testing, and documenting tight Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to eliminate financial leaks or fraud.
• Financial Risk Analysis: Spotting variances, operational bottlenecks, and financial exposure before they impact the bottom line.
• Taxation & Compliance Literacy: Practical, current execution of local statutory requirements (SARS eFiling, Companies Act, and B-BBEE verification codes).
