Accountant

Position Summary

Saunders Equipment is looking for a hands-on accountant to manage day-to-day accounting, payroll, banking, month-end close, job costing, inventory, and management reporting.

Key Responsibilities

· Manage accounts receivable, including credit checks, payments, statements, and collections.

· Process EFTs and online bank payments, and supervise the accounts payable clerk.

· Coordinate payroll inputs, commissions, RRSP contributions, and workers' compensation reporting.

· Complete month-end close, including reconciliations, accruals, HST, and tax instalments.

· Prepare job-costing, inventory, and management reports, including profit and loss by class and job.

· Handle specialized transactions such as floor-plan financing, warranty recoveries, CBSA statements, and USD purchases.

· Prepare year-end schedules and support the external accountant.

· Provide general office support, including phones, mail, vehicle registrations, and vacation records.

Qualifications

· Post-secondary education in accounting or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

· CPA designation, or progress toward one, is an asset.

· Five or more years of accounting experience, ideally in a job-costing environment such as equipment, distribution, or construction.

· Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop and Excel.

· Experience with EFTs, foreign-currency transactions, and Canadian sales-tax and payroll remittances.

Pay: $1.00-$10.00 per year
