Cash Accountant (Contract)

Location: Houston, TX (4920 Westway Park Blvd, Houston, TX 77041) (Mon-Thursday onsite, remote on Friday)

Compensation: $28 - $29 per hour

The Role at a Glance

Elior North America is seeking a detail-oriented Bank Reconciliation Accountant to support our centralized accounting function. This role is responsible for completing timely and accurate bank reconciliations, researching discrepancies, and ensuring cash activity is properly recorded in the general ledger.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Prepare and complete daily and monthly bank account reconciliations across multiple accounts and entities.
• Research and resolve reconciling items, including outstanding checks, deposits, bank fees, transfers, and unidentified transactions.
• Compare bank activity to general ledger balances and identify discrepancies.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to cash and banking activity.
• Monitor outstanding reconciling items and follow up with internal teams to ensure timely resolution.
• Assist with month-end close activities related to cash and bank accounts.
• Maintain reconciliation documentation and supporting schedules for audit and internal control purposes.
• Partner with Treasury, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other accounting teams to resolve cash-related issues.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 1+ years of accounting experience, preferably involving bank or cash reconciliations.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and debits/credits.
• Proficiency in Excel, including experience working with large transaction volumes.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to research discrepancies independently.
• Experience working in a multi-entity or high-volume accounting environment is a plus.
