Accountant

The Role

We are seeking an Accountant for numerous positions within the company, We need someone who has run month-end close on their own, handles inventory-heavy accounts, and can prepare accurate management reports without step-by-step supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the full month-end and year-end close: accruals, prepayments, journals, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with variance commentary
• Handle stock and inventory accounting: stock valuation, COGS, write-offs, and reconciling stock counts to the ledger
• Prepare and submit VAT returns [and excise/duty reporting if applicable], keeping records compliant
• Reconcile bank accounts, payment processors ([Shopify / Stripe / PayPal / card terminals]) and marketplace payouts
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including supplier statements, credit control, and trade accounts
• Run or oversee payroll processing and pension/tax submissions [if in scope]
• Build and maintain cash flow forecasts and support budgeting
• Prepare year-end files and work directly with external auditors/accountants
• Spot gaps in financial processes and controls, and fix them

Essential Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including at least 2 years owning month-end close (not only assisting)
• Background in retail, wholesale, e-commerce, or FMCG, with direct experience of inventory accounting
• Proven experience preparing and filing VAT returns
• Strong experience with [Xero / QuickBooks / Sage] and connected apps (e.g. A2X, Dext, inventory systems)
• Advanced Excel: pivot tables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, building reconciliations and reports from raw data
• Experience reconciling high-volume transactions from multiple sales channels
• Can work independently, meet deadlines, and explain numbers clearly to people outside finance

Qualifications

• ACCA, CIMA, ACA (qualified or finalist), or an equivalent professional qualification, or a degree in Accounting/Finance plus strong demonstrable experience
• [AAT Level 4 accepted alongside substantial experience, if you want to widen the pool]

Nice to Have

• Multi-entity or multi-currency accounting
• Experience setting up or improving systems (migrating software, automating reconciliations)
• Experience working with Shopify, Amazon, or wholesale B2B platforms

Pay: AED3,000.00 - AED4,000.00 per month
