DHL Global Forwarding has an opening Accountant in Port-Louis, Mauritius. Join us in connecting people and improving lives! In this Accountant position Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Prepare and review journal entries, including accruals, provisions, and adjustments
• Perform general ledger accounting activities
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities
• Ensure accuracy of financial reporting and trial balance integrity

Balance Sheet Reconciliations

• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
• Investigate and resolve reconciling items
• Monitor and reduce aged balances
• Ensure documentation and audit trails for all reconciliations
• Work closely with operational teams and country finance teams to resolve legacy or recurring issues (if any) and improve data integrity

Intercompany (IC) Accounting

• Identify and coordinate with GSC to get it closed
• Escalate aged/unreconciled IC items

Bank & Cash Accounting Support

• Review and validate bank-related journal entries
• Support resolution of bank discrepancies and adjustments

Controls & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to internal controls (SOP / audit standards)
• Maintain proper documentation and audit trail
• Participate in internal and external audits
• Identify and escalate control gaps or compliance risks

Process & Workflow Discipline

• Ensure all requests are handled through approved workflow tools
• Reject non-compliant submissions (e.g., missing documentation)
• Maintain process standardization across entities

Stakeholder Management

• Act as a key contact for country finance teams / business units
• Provide timely responses to queries and escalations
• Ensure clear communication on issues, delays, and risks

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities for:
• Process standardisation
• Automation
• Efficiency improvements
• Support transition and migration of activities into SSC
• Contribute to projects (e.g., IC clean-up, recon optimization)

P&L-Related Tasks

• Monitoring unbilled revenue / contract accounting
• Prepayment and Accruals maintenance Schedule
• P&L fluctuation analysis (MoM / YoY)
• Trial balance review (P&L accounts focus)
• Coordination with local finance for adjustments
• Variance analysis vs budget / forecast

Now, here is what we need from you!

• Degree in Accounting / Finance
• Professional certification preferred (ACCA / CIMA/ CPA / equivalent) (Completed
• 2–4 years of experience in:
• accounting
• Strong accountability and ownership
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work under pressure (especially month-end)
• Supports and guides junior team members
• Promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing
• Understands impact of accounting on business outcomes
• Drives efficiency and process discipline
• Focuses on continuous improvement and value creation
