Job summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant. Reporting directly to the MD/CEO, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, financial controls, project accounting, and general accounting operations. Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting:

• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded.
• Prepare management accounts and financial statements.
• Monitor cash flow and provide regular financial updates to management.
• Reconcile bank statements and company accounts.

Budgeting & Cost Control:

• Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor budget performance and investigate budget variances.
• Track project costs and ensure proper allocation of expenses.
• Provide recommendations for cost optimization and financial efficiency.

Taxation & Compliance:

• Prepare and file statutory tax returns in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations.
• Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, banks, and regulatory authorities when required.
• Support internal and external audit processes.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

• Monitor receivables and follow up on outstanding payments.
• Review and process invoices, vendor payments, and reimbursements.
• Maintain accurate records of debtors and creditors.

Project Accounting & Financial Analysis:

• Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and financial performance.
• Prepare project-specific financial reports and analyses.
• Support project managers with financial planning, cost tracking, and budget monitoring.
• Ensure accurate documentation of project-related financial transactions.
• Track project profitability and provide financial insights to management.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of five (5) years relevant accounting experience, preferably within project-based organizations, engineering, construction, infrastructure, renewable energy, or related sectors.
• Mandatory experience in project accounting, project budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
• ACA, ACCA, ICAN, or other relevant accounting certifications will be an added advantage.
• A Master's Degree or relevant postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, cash flow management, and financial controls.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Experience using accounting software and financial management systems.
• Knowledge of international trade and trade banking operations will be an added advantage.
