About the Role

Our client, a leading distributor of Laboratory Equipment and Consumables with operations across West Africa, is seeking a detail-oriented and trustworthy Accountant to manage all financial operations across its branches.The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring statutory compliance, managing multi-currency transactions, and supporting management with financial reports for decision making.

Key Responsibilities-

Manage daily accounting operations, bookkeeping, and general ledger.

Prepare monthly financial statements, management accounts, budgets, and cash flow reports.

Handle accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, and bank reconciliation.

Manage tax compliance including VAT, PAYE, WHT, and liaise with tax authorities.

Monitor inventory accounting, stock valuation, and cost control for lab equipment and consumables.

Manage multi-currency transactions and inter-branch accounting (NGN, USD).

Monitor company expenses, budgets, and ensure cost efficiency across operations.

Maintain accurate financial documentation and ensure strong internal controls.

Liaise with external auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.

Prepare regular financial reports for management and support regional finance operations.

Travel or relocate as required to support branches in Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Gambia.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree, HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Minimum of 3 years proven experience as Accountant / Finance Officer.

Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA) or in-progress is a strong advantage.

Experience working in a distribution, medical, laboratory, FMCG, or trading company will be an advantage.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, Nigerian tax laws, and financial reporting.

Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Zoho, or similar) and advanced MS Excel.

High level of integrity, confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Must be willing to travel or relocate to Liberia, Sierra Leone, Gambia as work requires.

Must have a valid international passport.

Key Performance Indicators-

Accuracy and timeliness of financial reports and bookkeeping.

Compliance with tax and statutory regulations.

Effectiveness of cost control and budget management.

Accuracy of inventory and inter-branch reconciliation.

Zero tolerance for financial discrepancies and audit issues.

Working Conditions- Location: Lagos, Nigeria (with regional travel)

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday (may require extra hours/travel as needed)
