What they need
About the Role
We are looking for a sharp, result-oriented Accountant who knows their numbers inside out and can back their experience with clean, accurate execution.
At NACK, we operate in a fast-paced retail and fashion environment where precision, structure, and proactive financial management are key. In this role, you will take ownership of our day-to-day accounting functions—ensuring balanced ledgers, flawless reconciliation, strict inventory/cost controls, tax compliance, and actionable financial reporting that keeps our business operating seamlessly.
If you are a thorough finance professional who takes pride in spotless record-keeping and data integrity, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Bookkeeping:
Maintain clean, accurate general ledgers, trial balances, and financial records in line with standards.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and financial reports.
Reconciliation & Cost Control:
Perform weekly and monthly bank, payment gateway, and petty cash reconciliations.
Track product costing, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold (COGS) across retail outlets and e-commerce platforms.
Taxation & Regulatory Compliance:
Manage timely computation, filing, and remittance of statutory deductions (VAT, WHT, PAYE, Pension, etc.) with relevant revenue authorities.
Ensure full audit readiness and liaise with external auditors during annual audits.
Payables, Receivables & Cash Flow:
Oversee accounts payable and receivable, managing vendor payments and invoice tracking.
Monitor daily cash flow and assist leadership in budget planning and variance analysis.
Key Requirements
- Education & Certification: Must be a Chartered Accountant (ICAN / ACCA qualified). Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. An MBA is an added advantage.
- Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience (experience in retail, fashion, FMCG, or e-commerce is a strong plus).
- Technical Skills: High proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or enterprise ERPs) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, financial modeling).
- Track Record: Demonstrated history of managing clean financial audits, resolving account discrepancies, and maintaining strict internal controls.
- Attention to Detail: Zero tolerance for unverified errors; strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation package.
- A dynamic, culture-rich work environment in the African lifestyle and fashion space.
- Opportunity for professional growth and leadership in business finance.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should submit their CV and proof of professional certification to [email protected] with the subject line: "Application – Accountant".
Pay: ₦300,000.00 - ₦400,000.00 per month
Application Question(s):
- Are you a fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAN / ACCA)? Please state your membership number and year of qualification.
- Which accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Zoho Books, Sage) do you use proficiently, and how would you rate your Excel skills (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP)?
- Have you managed inventory valuation, COGS tracking, or multi-channel retail reconciliation (e.g., POS vs. e-commerce payment gateways)? Briefly describe your experience.
- In a retail environment with both physical stores and an online store, stock discrepancies and timing delays between sales and bank settlements are common. How do you approach weekly reconciliation between bank statements, payment gateways (e.g., Paystack/Flutterwave/POS terminals), and actual inventory movement?
- How do you calculate and verify the true Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) for products when landed costs include raw materials, production/freight, and shipping tariffs? How do you ensure margins remain accurate in management reports?
