Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an Accountant to join the Company in a full-time capacity, based in the Central Region. This role is instrumental in supporting our financial operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting processes. As an Accountant, you will play a key part in maintaining our financial health and providing reliable financial information that drives business decisions across the organisation.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, including journals, ledgers, and account reconciliations
• Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in a timely and accurate manner
• Performing month-end and year-end closing procedures, including balance sheet reconciliations and accrual adjustments
• Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and management reports in accordance with accounting standards
• Supporting the audit process by compiling documentation and responding to auditor queries
• Reconciling bank statements and resolving discrepancies promptly
• Maintaining and updating fixed asset registers and schedules
• Assisting with tax compliance (e.g. GST) and statutory reporting requirements
• Identifying and investigating variances and unusual transactions
• Support ad hoc assignments and other accounting and HR -related duties as assigned

What we're looking for

• Diploma or degree qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• Professional accounting certification (such as ACCA, CIPFA, or equivalent) or working towards a recognised qualification
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including experience with advanced spreadsheet functions
• Strong understanding of financial accounting principles, practices, and standards (IFRS or local GAAP)
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
• Solid grasp of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes
• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements is desirable
• Experience in financial analysis and budget preparation would be an advantage
