Accountant

Position Summary

The Accountant supports the accounting department by applying sound accounting principles to daily transactions, reconciling and analyzing accounts, and maintaining accurate financial records. The role works closely with Purchasing, Inventory, and Logistics. It also supports tax compliance and reporting for our US, Canadian, and UK operations.

Key Responsibilities

Transactions & Cash

• Process financial transactions accurately and on time for North American operations
• Record cash transfers, deposits, and wires
• Process deposits and manage daily Positive Pay and ACH approvals
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations for checking accounts

Expense Review

• Review employee expense reports for correct coding, class, and general ledger account
• Review corporate credit card activity and assign charges to the appropriate GL accounts

Tax Compliance

• Reconcile NetSuite and Avalara for state and local sales and use tax, and file returns
• Reconcile and file quarterly Canadian GST/HST returns (GST34)
• Prepare monthly payroll reporting to Canada for the US and UK divisions
• Provide US input for the Canadian corporate tax return (T2)
• Process state income tax prepayments

Close & Audit

• Participate in the monthly and year-end close, including preparing journal entries
• Support the annual audit and provide supporting documentation as needed
• Maintain organized, accurate files and records

Operational Support

• Support Purchasing, Inventory Management, and Logistics, including the annual cycle count
• Cross-train in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to provide coverage and build a broad understanding of company processes

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent work experience
• 2-5 years of accounting experience, including expense accruals and account reconciliations
• Month-end close experience
• NetSuite or other major ERP experience preferred
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles and best practices
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
• Able to work independently and as part of a team

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: Competitive annual salary, DOE

• Company-paid employee premium for medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and AD&D insurance; eligibility begins the month following a 90-day probationary period
• Dependent premiums shared at 55% company / 45% employee
• 401(k) after one year of employment, with a company match up to 4%
• Paid time off: 10 days after one year, 15 days after two years, and 20 days after 10 years of service; first-year PTO prorated per offer
