About Us

Advance Strata Consulting Group is an Australian-headquartered professional services firm specialising in Strata Management.

Our Kuala Lumpur office plays an integral role in supporting our Australian Head Office, delivering accounting, financial reporting and professional support services across our Australian portfolio.

We are currently seeking a capable, motivated and commercially minded Accountant to join our Malaysian finance team.

We particularly welcome applications from experienced accountants, CPA, Chartered Accountants and ACCA professionals who enjoy practical accounting work and are interested in gaining international exposure within a professional services environment.

We also welcome applications from accounting and audit professionals from established firms, including Big Four backgrounds, who may be looking for a different working environment and an opportunity to apply their experience in a varied, client-facing role.

Reporting directly to our Senior Accountant, who is a Chartered Accountant, you will work closely with our Australian Head Office and gain exposure to Australian accounting practices, financial reporting, budgeting, cashflow management and direct engagement with Australian clients and senior stakeholders.

This is more than a traditional back-office accounting position.

While the role involves day-to-day accounting operations, you will also have opportunities to communicate directly with Australian clients, including senior executives and Owners Corporation Committees.

We value professionals who combine sound accounting knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach, strong communication skills and a genuine willingness to contribute across all aspects of the accounting function.

About the Role

Working closely with our Senior Accountant and Australian Head Office, you will support the accounting and financial management functions of our Australian Owners Corporation portfolio.

The position encompasses financial statement preparation, budgeting, cashflow forecasting, audit coordination, financial reporting and day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable and bank reconciliations.

Our accounting work primarily relates to the financial administration and reporting requirements of Owners Corporations, rather than complex corporate accounting, taxation or specialist financial advisory services.

We are seeking a qualified or suitably experienced accounting professional who enjoys a varied, hands-on role and is comfortable undertaking responsibilities across the full accounting function.

The position also involves direct engagement with Australian clients and senior stakeholders, requiring strong communication skills, professional confidence and the ability to explain financial information clearly.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Management Accounting

  • Prepare and review financial statements for Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and Committee Meetings.
  • Prepare financial reports, executive summaries and supporting financial documentation for our Australian portfolio.
  • Prepare annual budgets, financial forecasts and cashflow projections.
  • Analyse financial information, investigate discrepancies and provide clear explanations of financial results.
  • Prepare and process year-end financial accounts and associated financial reporting requirements.
  • Assist with Australian GST reconciliations and preparation of supporting information for external tax agents.

Audit & Financial Compliance

  • Assist the Senior Accountant with the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules for external audits.
  • Liaise with external auditors, coordinate audit documentation and respond to audit queries.
  • Review accounting records and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify, investigate and assist in resolving accounting discrepancies and financial reporting issues.
  • Support compliance with applicable Australian accounting and financial reporting requirements.

Accounting Operations

  • Undertake accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing, creditor payments and receivables management.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and investigate outstanding transactions.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records, ledgers and supporting financial documentation.
  • Prepare and issue levy notices, monitor outstanding levies and assist with arrears management.
  • Undertake financial transaction processing, account adjustments and associated accounting administration.
  • Support the preparation of year-end accounts and financial reporting requirements.
  • Carry out other accounting and finance-related responsibilities as reasonably assigned by Management.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Respond professionally to accounting and financial client enquiries via email and telephone.
  • Explain financial statements, budgets, levies and other accounting matters clearly to Australian clients.
  • Assist Strata Managers with financial queries and reporting requirements.
  • Communicate confidently with senior stakeholders, including Committee Members, Chairpersons and business executives.
  • Liaise with Australian Head Office to facilitate the timely resolution of financial matters.
  • Manage the Accounts inbox and ensure enquiries are addressed promptly and professionally.

About You

We are seeking a capable, reliable and hands-on accounting professional who combines sound accounting knowledge with excellent communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

You will be someone who enjoys the practical aspects of accounting and is equally comfortable preparing financial statements and budgets, processing accounts payable and receivable, performing bank reconciliations and responding to client enquiries.

We value individuals who take ownership of their responsibilities, demonstrate initiative and are willing to assist with whatever tasks are required to support the team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting, excellent attention to detail and the confidence to communicate professionally with Australian clients and senior stakeholders.

Above all, we are looking for someone who is adaptable, dependable and takes pride in delivering accurate and timely work, regardless of the nature or complexity of the task.

Qualifications & Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • CPA, Chartered Accountant, ACCA qualification or equivalent professional accounting credentials, either completed or currently being pursued, would be highly regarded.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in financial accounting, management accounting or general accounting functions.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements, management reports, reconciliations and other accounting records.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting processes and internal financial controls.
  • Experience in budgeting, cashflow forecasting, accounts payable and receivable, and financial analysis would be advantageous.
  • Candidates from established accounting firms or external audit backgrounds with strong accounting knowledge are also encouraged to apply.
  • Previous experience with Australian accounting practices is advantageous but not essential.

Communication & Professional Skills

  • Excellent written and spoken English is essential.
  • Confident and articulate when communicating with Australian clients and stakeholders via telephone, email and virtual meetings.
  • Ability to explain accounting and financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Comfortable engaging professionally with senior management, executives and Committee Members.
  • Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail and sound professional judgement.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Proactive, accountable and willing to take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • A practical, flexible and team-oriented approach, with a willingness to undertake both financial reporting responsibilities and routine accounting tasks as required.

Why Join Us?

International Career Exposure

Work closely with our Australian Head Office and gain practical experience in Australian financial reporting, accounting processes and client engagement.

A Varied & Hands-On Accounting Role

Enjoy a broad range of responsibilities across financial reporting, budgeting, cashflow forecasting, reconciliations and day-to-day accounting operations.

This role offers the opportunity to be involved in the full accounting process rather than being confined to one specialised function.

An Alternative Career Environment for Experienced Professionals

For accounting and audit professionals who have developed strong technical foundations within established firms, this role offers an opportunity to apply that experience in a different professional environment.

Rather than focusing on highly specialised corporate accounting or advisory assignments, you will be involved in practical financial management, accounting operations and direct client engagement within an international business.

Work Alongside a Multidisciplinary Team of Professionals

Collaborate with experienced professionals from diverse backgrounds, including Chartered Accountants, former legal practitioners, engineers and banking professionals.

Gain exposure to different areas of expertise and broaden your professional perspective within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Meaningful Client & Senior Stakeholder Engagement

Unlike traditional back-office accounting roles, you will have opportunities to engage directly with Australian clients and Committee Members, including C-suite executives and senior business leaders.

Develop your professional confidence and communication skills through direct engagement with senior decision-makers on financial and accounting matters.

Attractive Remuneration & Supportive Environment

We offer an attractive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience, together with a friendly, professional and supportive working environment.

Our Kuala Lumpur office is conveniently located near public transport, just two MRT stops from TRX.

Interested in Joining Our Team?

Whether you are an experienced accountant who enjoys hands-on accounting work, a qualified professional seeking international exposure, or an accounting or audit professional considering a different career environment, we would welcome your application.

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who take pride in their work, communicate confidently, value teamwork and are looking to build a long-term career within an international professional services organisation.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
