Role & responsibilities

Role & Responsibilities

• Maintain day-to-day accounting records and ensure accurate and timely bookkeeping.
• Handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, collections and vendor payments.
• Prepare and maintain customer invoices, purchase invoices, receipts and payment records.
• Reconcile bank accounts, customer accounts, vendor accounts and general ledger on a regular basis.
• Track and account for fuel expenses, vehicle maintenance, transportation costs, driver expenses and other logistics-related costs.
• Maintain proper records of expenses and supporting documents for all company transactions.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up with customers for timely payments.
• Verify vendor invoices and ensure payments are made as per agreed terms.
• Prepare monthly financial reports, expense statements and management reports.
• Assist with budgeting, cash-flow monitoring and cost analysis.
• Coordinate with auditors, banks, tax consultants and other external parties when required.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting, tax and statutory requirements.
• Maintain proper documentation and filing of financial records.
• Identify accounting discrepancies and resolve them in coordination with relevant departments.
• Support management with financial analysis and other accounting-related requirements.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 25 years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably in a logistics, transportation, trading or similar company.
• Good understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, invoicing and general accounting.
• Experience handling vehicle/fleet expenses, fuel costs, maintenance expenses and driver-related payments will be an advantage.
• Good knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software/ERP systems.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to independently maintain books of accounts and financial records.
• Good understanding of taxation and statutory compliance.
• Strong follow-up and communication skills for dealing with customers and suppliers.
• Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple accounting activities simultaneously.
• Candidates with experience in a logistics or fleet-management environment will be preferred.
