Accountant

We invite suitably qualified external candidates to apply for the position of Accountant for Breeder Farm, Abattoir and Hatchery. The successful candidate will oversee financial management, reporting, production costing, stock control and SARS compliance across the operations, providing reliable financial information to support sound business decisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and budget-versus-actual reports.
• Analyse production costs, including cost per chick, breeder cost per egg, feed efficiency and hatchability-related costs.
• Manage stock reconciliations, biological asset records and internal financial controls.
• Supervise two Bookkeepers and review accounting transactions and reconciliations.
• Manage SARS compliance, including VAT, PAYE, UIF and SDL submissions, eFiling, tax reconciliations and SARS queries.
• Prepare audit schedules, ensure audit readiness, identify financial risks and recommend cost-control measures.
• Provide financial analysis and forecasts to the CEO and operational management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Finance
• At least 5 years’ accounting experience
• At least 3 years’ experience in poultry, breeding farm or hatchery operations
• Experience supervising finance staff and working in an audited environment
• Strong production costing, budgeting and financial forecasting knowledge
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems
• Practical experience in SARS eFiling, VAT, PAYE, UIF and SDL submissions, including resolving SARS queries
