Role Description The Accountant role at Fox Smith Associates is a full-time, on-site position based in Marlow. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing general ledger entries, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The role involves handling accounts payable and receivable, processing invoices and payments, and ensuring that financial records comply with relevant regulations and standards. The Accountant will work with colleagues and clients to respond to financial queries, support budgeting and forecasting, and assist with tax-related documentation and filings. This role requires consistent collaboration with the wider team to maintain accurate records and support the firm’s commitment to high-quality client service.

Ideal Qualifications:

• Strong foundation in accounting principles, including experience with general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Proficiency with accounting software and standard office tools (e.g., Excel, spreadsheets, and financial systems).
• Solid understanding of relevant tax regulations and compliance requirements, or willingness to develop this knowledge.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies or trends.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-specialists.
• High level of accuracy, organization, and time management to handle multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment and build professional relationships with clients.
• Relevant accounting qualification (such as AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or progress toward such certification is preferred.
• Previous experience in an accounting or finance role within a practice or business environment is advantageous.
