Job Type: Full-time, on-site

We are looking for an Accountant who can handle day-to-day accounting, purchase entries, GST, TDS, ESI, PF and audit coordination for our crockery and household retail business.

Key Responsibilities

1. Day-to-Day Accounting

• Record sales, purchases, receipts, payments, expenses and journal entries.
• Maintain accurate cash, bank, customer and supplier ledgers.
• Reconcile bank statements with accounting records and resolve differences.
• Verify receivables and payables.
• Maintain invoices and supporting documents for accounting entries.

2. Purchase Entry and Data Entry

• Enter purchase invoices accurately in the accounting software.
• Verify supplier details, invoice numbers, dates, GST details, quantities, rates and discounts.
• Record purchase returns, debit notes and credit notes.
• Coordinate with the purchase and stock teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Identify and correct duplicate, missing or incorrect entries.

3. GST and Tax Compliance

• Prepare and reconcile data required for GST returns.
• Reconcile purchase records with GSTR-2B and investigate differences.
• Handle applicable TDS calculations, records and return preparation.
• Coordinate timely tax payments and return filings.
• Work with the Chartered Accountant on tax-related matters.

4. ESI, PF and Payroll Accounting

• Prepare and verify payroll-related accounting entries.
• Calculate applicable ESI and PF contributions.
• Maintain employee contribution records.
• Coordinate timely payments and filings.
• Reconcile salary deductions and statutory dues.

5. Existing Accounts Review and Reconciliation

• Review existing accounting records and reconcile differences.
• Identify missing transactions, duplicate entries and unsupported balances.
• Ensure all business transactions are included in complete and accurate books, supported by proper documents.
• Make necessary corrections under the guidance of management and the Chartered Accountant.

6. Audit and Financial Reporting

• Prepare ledger schedules and supporting documents for audit.
• Coordinate with the Chartered Accountant and provide information required for audit.
• Assist in preparing the Trial Balance, Profit and Loss Account and Balance Sheet.
• Provide reports on cash and bank balances, receivables and payables.

Requirements

• Practical experience in accounting, GST, TDS, ESI and PF.
• Ability to manage day-to-day accounting independently.
• Experience and accuracy in purchase entry and data entry.
• Proficiency in accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are mandatory, including VLOOKUP, PivotTables, SUMIF/SUMIFS, data reconciliation and preparation of accounting reports.
• Experience in retail accounting, inventory reconciliation and audit support preferred.
• B.Com or a relevant accounting qualification preferred.
• Accuracy, confidentiality and ability to meet deadlines.
